The Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC (MDD) has been published by the Council on 14 June 1993 and is intended to harmonise the laws relating to medical devices within the European Union. The Medical Devices Directive is implemented into national law in Germany and Austria by the Act on Medical Devices. In other European Countries the requirements of the Directive 93/42/EEC are also transferred into national law.
